Darrow & Faiges to Serve on NJAC Committee

Softball player Stephanie Darrow (Marlton/Cherokee) and cross country/track & field runner Randy Faiges (Bayville/Central Regional) will represent Stockton on the NJAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2012-13 academic year.  In addition, Darrow will serve as the NJAC SAAC Vice-President.  Darrow and Faiges also serve on Stockton's SAAC along with representatives from each of its 17 intercollegiate teams.

Darrow is entering her fourth year on the Stockton softball team with a .314 career batting average in 94 games for the Ospreys.  Faiges is a two-time NJAC Second Team performer in cross country who also earned an NJAC Second Team nod in the 3,000-meter steeplechase last year.

Under NCAA Bylaws, each NCAA conference is required to assemble a student-athlete advisory committee. The purpose of the conference SAAC is to strengthen the communication between the campuses and national committees. Through increased communication and networking, the NJAC SAAC strives to represent the views of all student-athletes who compete on behalf of the 10 league full-member institutions.

At its first meeting held on October 7, the NJAC SAAC set an aggressive agenda for the 2012-13 academic year and committed to continue with its practice of conducting a monthly Sunday evening conference call to discuss league issues. In addition, the group determined that it would continue with its “Cans Across the Conference” initiative for a fourth consecutive year. The 2011 “Cans Across the Conference” project saw the 10 league member schools collect over 6,500 cans of food for individuals and families in need during the holiday season.
