Stockton Win Streak Ends with 4-2 Defeat


(Montclair, NJ) - Richard Stockton (12-4-2, 6-2 NJAC) saw their four-game winning streak halted as the Ospreys fell to Montclair State (14-2-2, 5-1-2) 4-2 in an NJAC road game. Matt Jenne (Kinnelon/Kinnelon) scored both goals for Stockton in the second half to bring his season total to four tallies.
 
Stockton fell behind 22:30 into the match as Montclair State scored the only goal of the first half on a header. The Ospreys drew even 5:55 into the second half as Jenne potted his first of the night and Chris Katona (Howell/Howell) assisted on the play to assume the team scoring lead with his 38th point of the season. The tie last just over seven minutes before Montclair's Trey Leggett gave the Red Hawks the lead for good at 58:07.
 
Stockton's deficit grew to 4-1 with 12:45 to play after Jesse Shea netted a pair of goals 5:06 apart for Montclair State. The Ospreys got one back when Jenne scored his second marker of the contest with 9:12 remaining but Stockton did not get any more shots the rest of the way and their four-game winning streak dissolved with the 4-2 defeat.
 
Stockton goalkeeper Bob Millar (Cream Ridge/Allentown) finished with five saves in the match. Montclair State outshot the Ospreys 21-10 and the teams generated six corner kicks apiece.
 
Stockton will conclude the regular season with an NJAC home game against Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday at 7 pm. The Ospreys can earn a first-round bye for the NJAC tournament with a victory.
