(Galloway, NJ) –Richard Stockton (12-5-2, 6-3 NJAC) dropped their second straight NJAC contest as Rutgers-Newark (15-4-1, 6-2-1 NJAC) downed the Ospreys 3-1 in the regular season finale on Wednesday night. Both teams were able to get off 18 shots each during the contest.
Chris Katona (Howell/Howell) scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season for Stockton.

The Scarlet Raiders tallied all three of their goals during the first 45 minutes of play. Hubert Dul tapped in a crossing pass from Anthony DeRisi for the 1-0 lead 6:08 into the game. Rutgers-Newark then scored twice in a span of 34 seconds to essentially salt the game away. DeRisi scored from Dul on a tap in at 30:41 then shortly after, Bonny Londono fired a shot from 45 yards out for the 3-0 lead at the break.

Stockton was able to get on the board in the second half as Katona pounded in a marker after a
Joe Stapleton (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) long throw-in from the near side to make it 3-1 with 18 minutes remaining in regulation. Stapleton earned his first point of the season with the assist on the play. The Ospreys found themselves with some good opportunities but Scarlet Raiders' goalkeeper Matt Broomall kept Stockton off the board with some good saves.

Bob Millar (Cream Ridge/Allentown) started, allowing one goal with no saves in the first 15:42.
Bobby Varga (Toms River/Toms River East) relieved him, playing the final 74:18 and making three saves but taking the loss. Broomall kicked out seven shots in earning the win.

Stockton will start the NJAC playoffs with a game against College of New Jersey on Saturday, with the site to be determined at the conclusion of the regular season later tonight.
