(Galloway, NJ) - Richard Stockton (4-2-2, 0-1 NJAC) opened the 2013 NJAC schedule at home but came away with a tough 2-0 loss to Kean University (7-2-0, 1-0 NJAC). Stockton netminder Bob Millar (Cream Ridge/Allentown) made seven saves to give his teammates a chance, but he suffered the loss. The Ospreys were only able to squeeze off one shot on net against the Cougars.
After a scoreless first half, Kean broke through as Sheldon Palmer tipped in a pass from Akwasi Adu for the 1-0 advantage just 5:38 into the second stanza. Stockton had their best opportunity at the 30-minute mark as Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Heights/Gateway) hit the post with a blast, then shot the rebound high. Kevin Olaya later iced the game at 83:19 with a header off a Palmer pass for the 2-0 final score.
Brad Watkins kicked out Stockton's only shot on goal for the shutout victory for Kean. The attempt came from the top of the box by Chris Katona (Howell/Howell) during the first half. Katona also had a near-miss on another first-half attempt from 15 yards out that trickled just wide. The Ospreys were shut out for the first time in 26 games.
Stockton will take on The College of New Jersey in another NJAC match on Wednesday at 7pm.
