Women's ResultsSewell, NJ – Stockton University competed against several nationally and regionally ranked teams at the Inter-Regional Border Battle, which was hosted by Rowan University at Rowan College of Gloucester County. The Osprey women finished 15th out of 24 teams while the men placed 18th. The meet featured 13 men's squads and 12 women's that are ranked in the top 10 of either the Atlantic or Mideast Region. Seven women's teams and five men's also are rated in the nation's top 35.
Cassandra Hrusko (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) led Stockton by finishing 24th (22:09.21) out of 229 runners in the six-kilometer women's race. Freshman
Regina Duncan (Frelinghuysen Twp./North Warren) also cracked the top 50 by placing 48th (22:35.68).
Christina Welsh (Hamilton/Hamilton West) finished 138th (24:13.17) with the next two Ospreys not far behind. Freshman
Alexandra Lacorazza (Palisades Park/Palisades Park) and
Courtney Klecha (Jamesburg/Monroe Twp.) essentially crossed the finish line together, placing 143rd (24:26.11) and 144th (24:26.18) respectively. Stockton was second out of four NJAC teams behind TCNJ but ahead of Rowan and Ramapo, both of whom topped the Ospreys at last year's NJAC Championship.
Stockton's top five men registered an average time of 26:34.50 that was the best in four years under head coach
Jayson Resch and one of the best in school history. All five Osprey scorers broke the 27-minute mark in the eight-kilometer race. Freshman
Joe D'Amico (Bayville/Central Regional) led Stockton by finishing 70th (26:09.15) out of 229 runners.
Antonino Piro (Wildwood/Wildwood Catholic) finished in the top 100 by placing 95th (26:25.93).
Dagoberto Arias (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) was 111th (26:36.93), with
Sean Lynch (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) five seconds back in 113th place (26:41.67).
Phillip Palmer (West Deptford/West Deptford) finished 132nd (26:58.79) to complete Stockton's top five in the race.
Stockton will have two weeks to prepare for the NJAC Championships, which will be on the same course at Rowan College of Gloucester County on October 31.
