Women's Track & Field

Osprey Squads Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors

Galloway, NJ – The Stockton University men's and women's track & field squads each qualified for All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2015 season. The Ospreys were among 170 women's teams and 99 men's teams that earned the distinction by notching a cumulative team grade point average of 3.10 or higher.
 
The Osprey women's squad, coached by Todd Curll, clocked in with a 3.57 team grade point average for the second straight year and tied for 16th in the nation in GPA. The Stockton men's team, coached by Jayson Resch, earned a place on the list with a second consecutive 3.36 team GPA that tied for 24th nationally.
 
For both genders, Stockton produced the highest GPA among the six NJAC squads to earn All-Academic Team honors. The fellow conference members on the list were the Rowan men's team and the Ramapo, Rowan and The College of New Jersey women's teams.
 
In addition to the team accolades, freshman long jumper Jared Lewis (Westville/Deptford) qualified individually for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team. Lewis is a hospitality & tourism management major. He competed in the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships both indoors and outdoors and earned All-American status by placing eighth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in May.
 
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, student-athletes must have compiled a minimum 3.30 grade point average and finished the regular season ranked in the top 35 in the nation in an individual event or top 25 in the nation in a relay event.
