La Crosse, WI – Stockton University senior
Jared Lewis (Westville/Deptford) capped his amazing career by earning his ninth All-American honor with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Lewis' nine All-American kudos are the most by any student-athlete in Stockton history.
Lewis notched fifth place with a leap of 15.10 meters on his sixth and final attempt. He finished fifth out of 20 competitors in the event, trailing fourth place by just three centimeters and third by nine centimeters. The performance, Lewis' final one in a Stockton uniform, came at the end of an outdoor season in which he was hampered by an injury and competed in just five meets but still managed two wins in the triple jump.
Lewis, a USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region honoree this spring, won the NCAA title in the indoor triple jump twice (2017-18) among his nine career All-American accolades. Seven of the nine came in the triple jump while the other two were in the long jump. For his indoor and outdoor career, Lewis was a seven-time USTFCCCA All-Region performer and 11-time NJAC champion.
Lewis qualified for the NCAA Championships in all eight seasons of his career (four indoor, four outdoor). In addition, he was voted NJAC Most Outstanding Athlete for men's track & field twice and NJAC Outstanding Field Athlete three times, and also collected a total of 16 NJAC all-conference honors.
