The 2008-09 Men’s Basketball Team became just the second Stockton team in any sport to reach an NCAA championship game. The Ospreys finished as the national runner-up, ending the season at 30-3 and setting a school record for wins. Stockton reached a national ranking as high as #2 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
The Ospreys placed first in the NJAC regular season standings, won the NJAC Tournament and strung together 18 consecutive wins on their path to the NCAA title game. After finishing the regular season at 23-2, Stockton won six consecutive postseason home games at The Sports Center on its road to the Final Four.
The Ospreys defeated William Paterson and Rutgers-Newark to repeat as NJAC champions and then topped RPI, Gwynedd Mercy, St. Lawrence and Farmingdale State. At the Final Four in Salem, Virginia, Stockton advanced to the NCAA title game with a 62-58 win over Franklin & Marshall in the national semifinals.
