Shelley Gibney was a two-sport athlete, competing in women’s soccer and track & field. In soccer, Gibney was a two-time NSCAA All-Region selection (2009 Third Team, 2010 Second Team) as well as a three-time NJAC all-conference honoree (2007 Second Team, 2009-10 First Team).
Gibney helped Stockton to three NCAA Tournament berths and was selected NJAC Midfielder of the Year in 2009, joining fellow Hall of Famer Courtney Dougherty as the only Stockton players to receive that award. She ranks tied for sixth in school history in assists (23) and tied for ninth in points (69 on 23 goals and 23 assists).
Gibney also excelled on the track, becoming a four-time NJAC all-conference runner (2008 outdoor 400m hurdles First Team, 2009 indoor 4x400 Honorable Mention, 2009 outdoor 400m hurdles & 4x400 Second Team). Gibney won the NJAC title in the outdoor 400m hurdles in 2008 and still holds the school record in the event, running 1:04.56 in 2009.
