BoxscoreGalloway, NJ – Richard Stockton midfielder
Keara Homan (Manasquan/Manasquan) scored with 4:53 remaining to snap a 1-1 tie and lift the Ospreys (9-7, 5-2 NJAC) to a 2-1 victory over Rowan University (9-2-1, 4-1-1).
Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton/Steinert) contributed a goal and an assist to the victory. Stockton won for the third time in its last four games and snapped a seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1) by Rowan, which is in the Also Receiving Votes category of this week's NSCAA national poll.
The Ospreys managed to hang in and capitalize on their opportunities despite disadvantages of 11-4 in shots and 8-1 in corner kicks. Erika Suhl gave Rowan the early lead with a goal just 9:53 into the game but Stockton answered 10 minutes later.
Chelsea James (Howell/Howell) served the ball into the box from the right side and Boucher came off the left wing and potted her second goal of the season for a 1-1 tie.
The deadlock lasted for over 65 minutes during which Rowan outshot Stockton 9-1. The Ospreys broke through for the game-winner with just under than five minutes remaining as Homan took a pass from Boucher and buried a pretty shot from the top of the box for her fourth goal of the season. The shot was Stockton's first in 25:35 and proved to be the difference as the Ospreys knocked off Rowan 2-1.
Stockton goalkeeper
Lauren Haynes (Williamstown/Williamstown) earned the victory with four saves, including three in the second half. Carleigh Trivino finished with one save for the Profs.
Stockton's five-game homestand will continue on Saturday when the Ospreys host New Jersey City in an NJAC game on Saturday at 5 pm.
