Stockton University Athletics

Stockton Men’s Rowing Team is currently classified as a club sport, with the possibility of being elevated to a Club Varsity Team in the future.

Practices begin in the early Fall and continue through the Winter/Spring. Outdoor practice schedule varies depending upon weather. 

Our Osprey Nest Rowing Room (F0004) is utilized during the winter months with practice time throughout the day.

Participants must receive Stockton Physical Packets and take to their primary care physician or Urgent Care to be completed and be approved by Stockton athletic trainer:

1. Print this PDF
2. Complete and sign all required forms.
3. Have a physician perform the physical examination and sign the medical clearance.
4. Submit the completed physical packet to Mario Librizzi-Laing, Assistant Director of Club Sports, Intramurals, and Recreation.
5. Athletic Training will review the packet and provide final clearance.

For the past 25 years, Coach Joe Maguire was an assistant rowing coach for St. Augustine Preparatory School in Richland, NJ since the program’s inception in 1998. He focused most of his time with the Freshman and Novice rowers, teaching and developing first year athletes.

Additionally, he developed and assisted in the implementation of the entire rowing teams conditioning, training, and testing program.  Joe has also worked as an assistant varsity coach, guiding boats in the Freshman 8, Junior 8 and Second 8 to medals at the SRAA National Championship Regatta and Stotesbury Cup Regatta, including a gold at the 2012 SRAA in the Men’s Junior 8.  He has coached multiple NJ State, Philadelphia City and Atlantic County Championship winners in various men’s 8’s.

Coach Maguire was also voted the Southern New Jersey Scholastic Rowing Association Coach of the Year in 2011.  Coach Maguire also has earned his initial Level 3 Certification in 2005.
