BoxscoreGalloway, NJ – Richard Stockton (11-4-5, 3-2-4 NJAC) extended its unbeaten streak to five (3-0-2) with a tense 1-1 draw against visiting Rutgers-Camden (11-7-1, 6-2-1 NJAC) on Wednesday night. The match was the last regular season home contest for the Ospreys and their head coach
Jeff Haines, who will be retiring at the end of this season. The Ospreys will be the No. 5 seed in the upcoming NJAC playoffs, which begin on Saturday.
Â
The game started quickly with both goals coming within the first three minutes of the contest. The Scarlet Raptors' Clayton Taylor took a pass from Brad Maine and scored just 27 seconds into the game, giving visitors a quick 1-0 lead.
Â
Stockton answered shortly after as
Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury heights/Gateway) evened the contest with his 16th goal of the season. Colofranson potted a rebound off of an
Alex Kourahanis (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) shot at 2:32.
Peter Turowski (Millstone/Allentown) had the best opportunity for another marker in the first half, but his shot hit the crossbar after a nice pass from
Tim Sost (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) at 41:26.
Â
The early goals were it for the markers for the rest of the game. After neither team was able to mount any offense during the first extra frame, the Scarlet Raptors had a chance in the second overtime period. Mike Ryan was stoned by
Bobby Varga (Toms River/Toms River East), then Grant Taylor's rebound attempt sailed high and the game ended in the 1-1 deadlock. Stockton played one man down for over 59 minutes after Colofranson drew his second yellow card less than six minutes into the second half.
Â
Varga finished with three saves. Sean Matias also kicked out three shots for the Raptors. The Ospreys held advantages of 11-9 in shots and 8-4 in corner kicks.
Â
Stockton will begin their quest for an NJAC championship on Saturday when they travel to No. 4 seed Kean University for a 1 pm first-round matchup.
