BoxscoreUnion, NJ – Stockton University (11-2-6, 2-1-5 NJAC) extended its unbeaten streak to seven (4-0-3) with a 1-1 tie in an NJAC road game at Kean University (9-6-2, 4-2-2).
Marissa Bruno (Toms River/TR East) scored the lone goal for the Ospreys, who played their second straight draw and third in the last six games.
The game was scoreless into the 70th minute until Bruno buried a free kick from 20 yards out for her third goal of the season to put the Ospreys ahead 1-0. A little less than six minutes later, Stockton goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) saved a penalty kick to keep Kean off the board for the time being.
Just 1:11 after the big save, Kayla Birth scored the tying goal for the Cougars following a corner kick. Stockton outshot Kean 4-1 during the rest of the way but the match went to overtime at 1-1. Stockton outshot Kean 3-0 in the first OT and 3-2 in the second, however none of the attempts by either team found the net and the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
The game was fairly even statistically, with Kean holding a slight 19-17 edge in shots but Stockton attempting one more corner kick (4-3). Pallante finished with five saves and her counterpart KC Nunez made eight stops for Kean.
Stockton wrap up the regular season with a home game against Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
