BoxscoreMadison, NJ – Stockton University (7-2) saw a late rally come up just short as the Ospreys fell to the Drew Rangers (5-3) 10-8 on Wednesday night in a non-conference affair. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Stockton, who was led by
Zoey Kramer (Eatontown/Red Bank Catholic) with three goals and two assists for five points on the night.
Stockton held an early 2-1 lead on the Rangers as Kramer scored twice in the opening seven minutes. Drew scored the next six goals for a 7-2 lead before Kramer completed her hat trick near the end of the first half to make it 7-3 Rangers at the break.
Drew scored three times to begin the second half to offset goals by Stockton's
Skyler Mahoney-Kendra (Tinton Falls/St. John Vianney) and
Lauren Ivancich (Beach Haven/Southern) for a 10-5 advantage in favor of the Rangers with 14:37 remaining. The Ospreys scored the final three markers, one by Mahoney-Kendra and later two by
Nicole Miller (Southampton/Seneca) in the last 1:31 but time ran out on the rally for Stockton.
In addition to Kramer's five points, Mahoney-Kendra and Miller tallied two goals each for the Ospreys. Ivancich led all players with eight draw controls while Mahoney-Kendra and goalkeeper
Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) scooped three ground balls each. Stornes made 10 saves in suffering the loss.
Nikki Kleiman led all players with four goals and three assists for seven points for the Rangers. Sam DeSimone scooped a game-high seven ground balls, while winning netminder Gianna Minogue kicked out nine shots, scooped four ground balls and caused four turnovers.
Stockton will return home to face Montclair State on Saturday afternoon for their next contest. Game time is scheduled for 1 pm.
