BoxscoreGalloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-1) recorded its first win of the season with a 9-0 sweep of Cabrini College (1-1) in the home opener for the Ospreys. Five Stockton players won matches in both singles and doubles, led by
Summer Conover (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) and
Gianna Letinski (Barnegat/Barnegat). Conover and Letinski teamed for an 8-1 doubles victory and won 6-1, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-1 respectively in singles.
Brynn Buechler (Pennsville/Pennsville) and
Sydni Fahringer (Northfield/Mainland) edged their opponents 8-6 in doubles. Buechler extended her singles winning streak to 12 straight dating back to last season with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph while Fahringer cruised 6-1, 6-0.
Colleen Anderson (Barnegat/Barnegat) and
Kristy Faren (Franklin Lakes/Indian Hills) completed the doubles sweep 8-2.
Anderson also won the lone three-set match of the day 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in singles. Freshman
Alyssa Brady (Galloway/Absegami) earned her first career singles win with a 6-1, 7-5 victory as the Ospreys rolled to the 9-0 shutout.
Stockton will begin NJAC play by hosting perennial league champion The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, September 9 at 4:30 pm.
