Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (12-5, 7-3 NJAC) shook off a sluggish first half and rallied for a come-from-behind 68-65 victory over Rowan University (6-11, 3-7 NJAC) on Wednesday night. Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) scored the last four points of the game to give the Ospreys their third straight win overall and 17th consecutive victory over the Profs.

Rowan took control of the game during the first half of play as Stockton struggled to make shots. A 10-1 run in just over four minutes during the middle of the period gave the visitors a 22-12 advantage. Rowan stretched the margin to 29-15 and led 36-26 at the break as the Ospreys shot just 29.4% from the field (10-34) during the first half. Armin Cane (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) paced Stockton with 11 first-half points.

The second stanza began much like the first, with the Profs getting out to their biggest lead at 43-28 lead before Stockton rallied. A 16-0 onslaught gave Stockton its first lead since the opening minutes at 44-43 with 13:16 remaining. Five different Ospreys scored during the run, led by Harmon with five markers and Cane with four.

The lead was short lived as Rowan forged a 60-54 advantage at the 5:53 mark. A Jaymere Hadden (Millville/Millville) three-pointer with 2:56 left capped a 10-3 spurt that put Stockton ahead 64-63. Rowan answered with a jumper by Kris O'Connor that gave the Profs the lead for the last time at 65-64 with 1:49 remaining in regulation, setting the stage for Harmon's heroics.

Just 25 seconds later, Harmon swished a three-pointer that sent Stockton into the lead at 67-65 with 1:24 left. Harmon later was fouled while grabbing a rebound on a missed three-pointer but made just one of two foul shots at the 10-second mark. Rowan had one last chance on a three-point try by shawn Wilson with two ticks left but the try rattled off the rim and Stockton escaped with the 68-65 victory.

Cane and Hadden led all scorers with 17 points and four assists apiece for Stockton while Harmon notched 13 markers. Cane and Darius Jerkins (Somers Point/Mainland) grabbed seven boards each to tie for game-high honors.

Nick DePersia and Kris O'Connor led Rowan with 12 points each while teammates Shawn Wilson and Chris Gross added 11 and 10 points respectively.

Stockton will begin a short two-game road trip on Saturday night when they travel to Rutgers-Newark for an 8 p.m. contest.
