Stockton Ends Regular Season with Split

DeSales box / Neumann box

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (21-13) wrapped up the regular season by hosting a tri-match at The Sports Center. In the opener, the Ospreys were edged by DeSales (22-12) in five sets for the second time in eight days. The set scores were 25-23, 24-26, 25-19, 12-25, 15-9 in favor of the Bulldogs. Stockton rebounded by sweeping Neumann (17-17-16) 25-14, 25-12, 25-18.
 
Three Ospreys reached double digits in kills against DeSales, led by Lindsay Schuele (Sparta/Sparta) with 13 spikes. Idi Uffen (Williamstown/Williamstown) and Stephanie Kovacs (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) added 12 kills apiece. Kennedy Hubbard (Moorestown/Moorestown) dished a career-high 25 assists and served three aces.
 
Jessica Ciandella (Beachwood/Roselle Catholic) distributed 25 assists and added 10 digs. Rebecka Zabilowicz (Belmar/Red Bank Regional) posted a match-high 28 digs for the Ospreys. Stockton rallied from a one-set deficit to tie the match twice but ultimately fell short in the fifth stanza.
 
Schuele led Stockton to the sweep of Neumann with 13 kills followed by Jenna Lara (Ridgefield/Ridgefield) with eight. Hubbard and Ciandella handed out 17 and 15 assists respectively. Hubbard also served a career-high four aces. Zabilowicz was the only player on either team in double digits in digs, finishing with 13.
 
Stockton is the No. 2 seed for the NJAC Tournament. The Ospreys have a first-round bye and will host the winner of No. 3 Montclair State vs. No. 6 Rutgers-Newark in the semifinals on November 3 at 7 p.m. Stockton has won eight consecutive NJAC championships.
