BoxscoreGalloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-0) won their home opener in a big way with a 20-5 triumph over the University of Scranton (2-3). Freshman
Sarah Frankovic (Long Valley/West Morris) led the onslaught with seven goals and two assists for nine points on the day. Stockton, playing the first of a five-game homestand, extended their season-opening win streak to three straight matches.
Frankovic wasted no time in getting the Ospreys rolling as she potted two goals in the first 1:04 of the game for a quick 2-0 Osprey advantage.
Lauren Ivancich (Beach Haven/Southern) scored the next two markers for a 4-0 margin after just 4:34 into the contest. Frankovic picked up an assist on the second Ivancich goal.
Skyler Mahoney-Kendra (Tinton Falls/St. John Vianney) tallied the fifth marker for Stockton, before Meghan Kerr broke the streak with her first of two goals on the day to cut the lead to 5-1.
The Ospreys kept the pressure on as freshman
Mary Schmid (Lumberton/Holy Cross) scored the first of five straight markers by Stockton with a
Kim Raichelson (Brick/Brick Memorial) assist. Frankovic and Ivancich netted two more goals each for a 10-1 lead. A pair of Royals' goals sandwiched markers by Schmid and
Skyler Mahoney-Kendra to set the halftime score at 12-3 in favor of Stockton.
Stockton tallied the first eight goals of the second half with Frankovic netting three and
Sarah Brenner (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) scoring twice for a 20-3 advantage. Scranton closed out the contest with the last two goals to set the final score at 20-5 in favor of Stockton.
In addition to Frankovic's huge afternoon, Ivancich scored five times and dished two assists for seven points. Schmid added three goals and an assist, with Mahoney-Kendra and Brenner chipping in with two goals. Mahoney-Kendra also was credited with an assist on the day.
Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) earned her third win of the season with a six-save effort in net for the Ospreys, including three big stops early in the contest to keep Scranton off the board.
Kerr scored two goals for the Royals to lead the visitors. Erin Allen, Kailyn Angelo and Paige Stoessel all scored once, with Caitlyn Kollar picking up an assist. Marne Rossetti kicked out six shots in net in suffering the loss.
Stockton will play again at home on Saturday when they face Immaculata University at noon.
