Swarthmore, PA – Stockton University (15-5) nearly erased a four-goal deficit in the fourth quarter but fell one goal short and suffered a 7-6 defeat to Swarthmore (12-6) in the ECAC championship game. Stockton was bidding for its first ECAC title since 2002. Despite the setback, the Ospreys finished the year with a school-record 15 victories.
Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon) led Stockton with three goals followed by
James O'Donnell (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) with a goal and two assists.
Tyler Van Benschoten (Saddle Brook/St. Joseph's Regional) contributed a goal and an assist for the Ospreys as well.
Swarthmore jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Stockton finally got on the board when Gallo scored nearly six minutes into the second quarter.
Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) was next to strike and the Ospreys were within 3-2 until Swarthmore scored with just 10 seconds left in the half to put Stockton's deficit back to two at 4-2.
Van Benschoten brought the Ospreys within 4-3 with 6:42 left in the third quarter but the Garnet pumped in four consecutive goals for a 7-3 count with 14:41 to play in the game. Stockton tried to stage a late rally as Gallo sandwiched two man-up goals around one by O'Donnell in a span of 1:47 to close the gap to 7-6 with 5:16 on the clock.
Stockton survived two Swarthmore shots as the clock approached the two-minute mark and then the Ospreys tried two shots in the final minute but could not produce the tying goal. Gallo fired an attempt that was stopped by Swarthmore goalie Cole Fox with 45 ticks left and
Guy Loggi (Somers Point/Mainland) took a shot that was off the mark with seven seconds to go.

Alex DiClemente (Wyckoff/Ramapo) tallied three caused turnovers and two ground balls while
Tyler Bollard (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) won 12 of 17 faceoffs and scooped six ground balls.
