Boxscore

Allentown, PA – Stockton University (13-6) finished the 2016 season with a 13-9 setback to host Muhlenberg (13-5) in the ECAC championship game. The Ospreys played in the postseason for the first time and recorded the highest win total in the program's three seasons of intercollegiate play. Lauren Ivancich (Beach Haven/Southern Regional) led Stockton with three goals against the Mules.

Skyler Mahoney-Kendra (Tinton Falls/St. John Vianney) chipped in with two goals and an assist while Mary Schmid (Lumberton/Holy Cross) scored twice. Goalkeeper Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) tallied six saves, three caused turnovers and two ground balls in her final college game.

Stockton fell behind 7-2 in the first 20 minutes, with Mahoney-Kendra and Ivancich potting goals for the Ospreys. Ivancich and Colleen Knight (Pennsauken/Camden Catholic) scored to make it 7-4 but the Mules added one more marker with 28 seconds left in the first half for an 8-4 count at the break.

In the second half, Muhlenberg scored a pair of counters 23 seconds apart to extend the margin to six at 10-4 but Schmid answered with two goals in a span of 3:08 that closed the gap to 10-6. After the Mules made it 11-6, Stockton staged a comeback try.

Mahoney-Kendra ignited a three-goal run that included tallies by Ivancich and Sarah Frankovic (Long Valley/West Morris Central) that got the Ospreys within two at 11-9 with 6:40 remaining. Stockton could not sustain the momentum and Muhlenberg scored twice in the last five minutes to deal the Ospreys the 13-9 defeat.

Stockton finished with 13 wins after posting 10 victories apiece in each of its first two seasons. The Ospreys also reached the NJAC playoffs and ECAC tournament for the first time. Frankovic surpassed the 50-goal plateau, ending her fantastic rookie season with 51 markers while Ivancich hit the 40-goal mark for the year with her three tallies in the game.
