Stockton Opens NJAC Play with 3-1 Win

Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-1, 1-0 NJAC) opened up NJAC play with a 3-1 victory over Kean University (3-4, 0-1 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. The triumph extended the Ospreys' win streak to three straight matches.

The Cougars had two excellent scoring opportunities to open the scoring in the first 20 minutes of play but were turned away by Stockton goalkeeper Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) to keep the game scoreless.

Jill DiBlasi (Atco/Hammonton) put Stockton on the board as she trailed a two-on-one and scored her second tally of the season at 24:14 for a 1-0 lead. Alexa Fama (Linwood/Mainland) sent a pass that bounced off a Kean defender to DiBlasi, who volleyed the ball home from 12 yards out.

Alexa Chiaro (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West) made it a two-goal margin when she poked in a shot after a Kean giveaway in front of the net with just 37 seconds remaining in the half for a 2-0 Stockton lead at the break.

Boucher extended the margin when she rolled through the Cougars from near midfield and deposited her eighth goal of the season, unassisted, from just inside the box for a 3-0 advantage. Pallante lost her shutout bid when Kayla Birth floated a shot from near midfield that eluded the Stockton netminder to make it 3-1 at 64:41.

Pallante picked up her sixth win of the season, making four saves in the match. Kean goalie Lauren Healey made one save in taking the loss, dropping her record to 3-4 on the season.

Stockton will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to face Eastern University at 4:30 p.m.
