Cortland, NY – Stockton University (4-0) topped SUNY Cortland 25-12, 25-21, 24-26, 25-17 and then swept Nazareth 25-23, 25-17, 25-19 to win the Cortland Red Dragon Classic with a 4-0 record at the two-day, 12-team tournament.
Idi Uffen (Williamstown/Williamstown) was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Stephanie Kovacs (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) led the Ospreys past Cortland with a match-high 13 kills and tied her career high with 15 digs. Uffen chipped in with 10 kills and five blocks. Setter
Jessica Ciandella (Beachwood/Roselle Catholic) dished 20 assists and
Rebecka Zabilowicz (Belmar/Red Bank Regional) scooped 29 digs.
Kovacs led the way again in the sweep of Nazareth, spiking 12 kills. Uffen added seven kills and six blocks. Ciandella registered 10 assists and nine digs while freshman
Jocelyn Holobetz (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) distributed nine assists. Zabilowicz paced the Ospreys with 12 digs.
Stockton will have a week off before heading to New Paltz for the Hawks Invitational on September 9-10.
