Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (9-11-2) saw its 2017 season come to an end with a 4-0 defeat to unbeaten The College of New Jersey (17-0) in the semifinals of the NJAC Tournament. The Ospreys faced an uphill battle against a TCNJ team that is ranked #2 in the nation and has only allowed three goals all year.
Stockton had played well of late, entering the game with a 6-2-1 record in its last nine matches, but could not match the strength of one of the top teams in NCAA Division III.
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) made eight saves, one off her career high, in 76:44. Senior
Morgan Fair (Crownsville, MD/North County) capped her career by playing the last 13:16 without facing a shot on goal.
The Lions blitzed Stockton early, scoring three times in the first 11:14. Taylor Nolan got two of the goals and Christine Levering scored the other. Nolan completed her hat trick in the 29th minute to make it 4-0.
Stockton kept TCNJ off the board in the second half, however the Ospreys could not mount an attack at the offensive end. They spent most the game fending off the Lions and were not credited with any shots in the 4-0 setback.
Stockton received contributions from several freshmen and sophomores this season. Ten of the team's 18 goals were scored by rookies or second-year players, highlighted by
Michelle Sander (Ewing/Notre Dame) and
Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) with three apiece and NJAC Co-Rookie of the Year
Dasey DiElmo (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands) with two. Sophomore
Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) topped the Ospreys with four assists.
