West Chester, PA – Stockton University (13-7) split its two contests in a tri-match at Widener, falling to Cabrini (17-4) by a 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-19) count before rebounding with a 3-1 win over Widener (6-16) by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-22.
Against Cabrini,
Sarah Walsh (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) led the Ospreys with a team-high nine kills plus six digs.
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) topped the squad with 10 digs while freshman setters
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) and
Alice Brandt (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) dished nine assists apiece.
Stephanie Kovacs (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) led Stockton past Widener with a match-high 17 kills followed by Walsh with a double-double of 15 kills and 15 digs. Sullivan and Brandt finished with 25 and 15 assists respectively.
Miller contributed 13 digs and also served two aces, as did Walsh. Stockton committed 10 hitting errors in the first set but then settled down and made just 11 total during the next three frames to take the match 3-1.
Stockton will play an NJAC match at Rutgers-Camden on Tuesday at 7 pm.
