Reading, PA – Stockton University (6-4) hit the 70-point mark for the eighth time in 10 games this season but was outscored 82-74 by an Albright (6-4) team that placed all five starters in double figures.
Najha Treadwell (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) topped the Ospreys with 26 points, shooting 10-15 from the floor and 6-9 at the line. Treadwell has scored at least 12 points in all but one of Stockton's 10 games.
Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill/CH West) contributed 17 markers plus team highs of eight rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and three steals.
Hailee Porricelli (Howell/Freehold Twp.) hit three three-pointers for nine points and added five rebounds and three assists. Stockton struggled to keep Albright off the glass, yielding 21 offensive boards that resulted in 25 second-chance points by the Lions.
After falling behind 15-2 to open the game, the Ospreys fought back with 10 straight points to get within 15-12 after Porricelli capped the scoring spree with a three-pointer. Stockton gave ground late in the quarter and trailed 24-18 after one period.
The Ospreys shot a blistering 58.3 percent from the floor (7-12) and 5-6 (83.3%) at the line in the second stanza to overtake Albright. Stockton ripped off a 14-1 run on six points by Treadwell, five by Williams and another trey from Porricelli to build a 35-30 lead. Although the Lions sliced into the margin, the Ospreys led 38-36 at the break.
Stockton's momentum fizzled in the third quarter as they shot just 1-7 (14.3%) from three-point land. After six lead changes, Albright closed the period with an 11-2 spurt to take the period 24-15 and put the Ospreys in a 60-53 hole entering the fourth.
Stockton's deficit was 75-59 with 6:20 remaining before the Ospreys made a last-ditch effort to rally. Treadwell led the charge with nine points, the last two of which got Stockton within 77-72 with 1:21 to go. Albright then missed a three-pointer but extended the possession with an offensive rebound that led to two free throws and stalled the comeback, resulting in an 82-74 defeat.
Stockton will have a 10-day gap before returning to the court for a non-conference game at Elizabethtown on December 30 at 6 pm.
