Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (8-8) saw their modest two-game win streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon, as Neumann University (6-7) earned an 11-4 victory. The Knights smacked 16 hits against seven Osprey pitchers in the game.
Nick LaPorta (Pompton Plains/Pequannock) led the offense with two hits and two RBI on the afternoon.

Stockton took an early lead without the benefit of a hit in their half of the second inning.
Joe Pipher (Brick/Brick Memorial) reached on an error, advanced to second on a passed ball, and eventually scored on a wild pitch to give the Ospreys an early 1-0 margin.

The Knights answered with a pair of markers the next inning as they plated the runs on three hits for a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish. Neumann sent 10 batters to the plate in a five-run fourth inning as they rapped seven hits and a Stockton error for a 7-1 advantage.

In the home half of the fourth, Pipher doubled and scored on a LaPorta single to cut the lead to 7-2. Stockton tallied another run the next inning.
Joe LaCava (Toms River/Toms River North) and
Austin Gonella (Beachwood/Toms River South) singled and moved up on a sacrifice bunt by
James Wines (Hazlet/Raritan). LaCava eventually scored on a wild pitch to get Stockton closer at 7-3 after five frames.

That was as close as the Ospreys would come, as Neumann broke the game open in the top of the sixth with three more scores to make it 10-3 in favor of the visitors. Both teams scored one more run each in the waning innings to set the final score at 11-4 for the Knights.

Pipher scored two runs for Stockton as freshman
Nick Maglione (Hamilton/Steinert) started the game, but suffered his first loss of the season. Fellow freshmen hurlers
Ryan Moore (Waldwick/Waldwick),
Tyler Apt (Williamstown/Williamstown) and
Tyler Black (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) tossed 3 1/3 innings combined in relief, allowing just one hit and no runs.

Even Emerich, Duncan Balara and Spencer Young led the offensive attack for Neumann with three safeties each, with Young driving in three RBI. Freshman Matt Kelty picked up his first career win for the Knights.

Stockton will begin NJAC play on Saturday, when the Ospreys will take on Montclair State in a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is set for 11:30 am.
