Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (17-16-1, 6-7-1 NJAC) played its final regular season home games and was swept in a doubleheader against Ramapo (23-7, 13-1), which is in first place the NJAC. The Ospreys were edged 4-2 in the opener and blanked 6-0 in the nightcap.
In the first game,
Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) went 2-2 and four of her teammates stroked one hit apiece. Ramapo took an early 2-0 lead on an RBI triple by Harper Patsko and RBI double by Christina Brizek in the first inning. The Roadrunners added another run on three hits in the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Chelsea Thomas (Barrington/Haddon Hts.) reached on a fielder's choice and
Ashley Lobell (Cedar Knolls/Whippany Park) singled to put two runners aboard with two outs. Pinch-hitter
Megan Katzmar (Cinnaminson/Holy Cross) then blasted a two-run double to centerfield that pulled the Ospreys within 3-2.
Massa led off the bottom of the fifth with a single and Thomas singled with one out in the sixth, but Stockton could not manufacture the tying run in either inning. Ramapo added an insurance run in the top of the seventh and the Ospreys fell 4-2. Ally Spellman finished with three hits, two runs and an RBI for the Roadrunners.
In the nightcap,
Carli Shaw (Bordentown/Bordentown) led off the bottom of the first to extend her reached-base streak to 14 games. Shaw advanced to second on a passed ball but Ramapo pitcher Erin Fitzsimmons retired the next 21 batters in order and blanked Stockton 6-0.
Grace Brennan hit a two-run double in the top of the second put Ramapo on top 2-0. The Roadrunners added two runs apiece in the third and seventh innings for the 6-0 final score. Nicole Mahoney was 4-4 with an RBI and Patsko was 3-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Ramapo.
Stockton will play three straight doubleheaders on the road during the last week of the regular season. The first is an NJAC twinbill at Kean University on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
