New Paltz, NY - Stockton University (5-1) need the minimum of six sets to post a pair of victories on the first day of the New Paltz Hawks Invitational. The Ospreys swept Mount St. Mary (NY) 25-17, 25-11, 25-14 and Sage 25-19, 25-13, 25-6.
Stephanie Kovacs (Allentonwn, PA/Central Catholic) paced the Ospreys with 26 kills on the day.
Kovacs spiked 15 kills and
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) dished 30 assists in the win over Mount St. Mary.
Kara Glynn sparked the defense with a career-high 22 digs followed by
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) with 18 digs and Sullivan with 13 digs.
Kovacs again led Stockton in the win over Sage, this time with 11 kills and
Sarah Walsh (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) added nine. Sullivan handed out 27 assists while Miller and Glynn finished with 10 digs apiece.
Stockton continues play at the tournament tomorrow with matches against Southern Vermont at 1 pm and host New Paltz at 3 pm.
