Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-7) fought back from an early 22-point deficit to tie the game in the third quarter but ran out of steam in an 82-65 loss to Stevenson University (8-6).
Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill/CH West) notched her third straight double-double with team highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Williams also tallied a game-high five blocks and team-high four assists.
Najha Treadwell (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) scored 18 points on 9-11 shooting from the field. Freshman
Sammi Dabbundo (Philadelphia, PA/Bishop Eustace) hit double figures for the second time in her rookie year with 10 points and also grabbed a career-high seven rebounds.
Stockton flexed its muscles in the paint as Williams and Treadwell combined for 37 points on 16-22 shooting (72.7%), but Stevenson's pressure defense harassed the Ospreys into 29 turnovers that led to 37 points off those miscues by the Mustangs.
After Williams opened the scoring with a jumper, Stevenson used its full-court press to fluster Stockton in the opening quarter. The Ospreys shot 7-11 from the field (63.6%) but committed 11 turnovers and fell behind 25-15 to athletic Mustangs, who helped their cause by going a blistering 4-5 from beyond the arc.
The deficit peaked at 22 points (39-17) with 5:44 left in the second quarter before Stockton gained some traction. Treadwell scored six markers followed by Williams with five,
Hailee Porricelli (Howell/Freehold Twp.) with four and Dabbundo with a three-pointer as the Ospreys closed the period with an 18-4 run to get within 43-35 at the half.
Stockton continued the surge at the start of the third quarter as four points by Treadwell and layups by Williams and Dabbundo resulted in an 8-0 spurt that tied the game 43-43. Stevenson answered with seven straight points for a 50-43 count and followed a Dabbundo layup with six more points in a row to make it a 13-2 run and take control at 56-45.
The Mustangs later closed the period with six consecutive counters to put Stockton down 65-51 after three and the Ospreys could not make another charge. They trailed by double figures for the entire fourth quarter and absorbed the 82-65 defeat in their final non-conference game of the season.
Jonyae Curry led all players with 25 points for Stevenson and completed her double-double with 10 rebounds. Brandi Hall contributed 18 points and five assists while Hannah Crist went 4-7 from three-point range and finished with 17 points for the Mustangs.

Joe Fussner his 400th win on Wednesday, when the Ospreys visit New Jersey City for an NJAC game at 6 pm.
