Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-7, 0-4 NJAC) stayed close to Rowan University (4-4, 3-1) for most of the first three quarters before faltering late in an 85-60 downfall at The Sports Center.
Mckenna Forry (Waterford/Hammonton) had a breakout offensive game with a career-high 16 points.
Forry shot a blistering 8-11 (72.7%) from the floor and also grabbed four rebounds.
Natalie Miller (New Milford/New Milford) sank three three-pointers and finished with 11 points while
Madison Noordeloos (Hawthorne/Hawthorne) contributed 10 points on 5-8 (62.5%) shooting off the bench.
April Peterson (Lafayette/High Point) continued her strong work on the glass with a game-high 12 rebounds, her fourth double-digit total of the season. Peterson also tallied eight points, four assists and three steals. Freshman
Emily Donzanti (Toms River/TR South) led all players with eight assists.
Stockton and Rowan played a close first quarter that featured three ties, the third of which came at 16-16 on a trey by Miller before the Profs scored a late basket for an 18-16 edge after one.
The Ospreys fell behind by 11 in the second quarter but rallied with a 10-3 run to close the gap to 37-33 late in the period. Forry scored four points and Miller sank a three-pointer during the spurt. The Profs again netted the last bucket of the period for a 40-33 count at the break. Forry (12) and Miller (11) accounted for 23 of Stockton's 33 first-half points.
Rowan opened up a 14-point margin in the third quarter, however the Ospreys used a 10-1 run to claw back within five at 54-49. Noordeloos and Forry scored four points apiece during the rally. The Profs responded with eight straight points for a 62-49 cushion on the way to a 63-50 lead after three periods.
Stockton ran out of steam in the fourth quarter as Rowan outscored the Ospreys 22-10 for the 85-60 final score. Ayanna Johnson paced the Profs with 19 points and 13 rebounds followed by Olivia Rulon with 14 markers.
Stockton's next contest will be an NJAC matchup at William Paterson on Saturday at 1 pm.
