Camden, NJ – Stockton University (6-18, 3-9 NJAC) was downed 9-2 by Rutgers-Camden (19-10, 8-4) in the back half of the two-game series between the teams. Six Ospreys had one hit apiece in the contest, with
Nick D'Arcy (Toms River/TR East) going 1-4 and registering the lone RBI for Stockton.
The Ospreys got on the board first.
Garrhet Reedy (Tinton Falls/Monmouth) led off the second inning with a single and later scored on an error by the Scarlet Raptors for a 1-0 lead. Rutgers-Camden came right back with one run in the bottom half to tie the game 1-1.
The Scarlet Raptors broke the contest open with seven runs on seven hits and two errors in the sixth inning for an 8-1 count. They tacked on another tally the next inning to make it 9-1. Stockton plated one run in the ninth frame for the 9-2 final.
David Mann (Waldwick/Waldwick) led off with single and later scored on an RBI single by D'Arcy with two outs.
In addition to Reedy, Mann and D'Arcy,
Joe LaCava (Toms River/TR North),
Jeff Schick (Marlton/Cherokee) and
Tyler Hobbs (Brick/Brick Memorial) also stroked one single apiece in the game. Starter
Ryan Moore (Waldwick/Waldwick) went 5.2 innings with five strikeouts but absorbed the loss. Four of the eight runs charged to Moore were unearned as Stockton committed four errors on the day.
Stockton will be back on the diamond tomorrow for an NJAC doubleheader at William Paterson starting at 11:30 am.
