Stockton Advances to ECAC Finals with 19-6 Rout

Allentown, PA – Stockton University (11-4) allowed the first goal of the game, then scored nine straight goals in a 19-6 rout over Kean University (12-6) in an ECAC semifinals on Saturday afternoon. Thirteen different Ospreys hit the net, led by Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) with five scores on the day.

The Cougars got on the board first before Stockton opened up the offense. Eric Ellis (Voorhees/Eastern) scored three goals, with Swedlund and Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon) hitting the net twice each during the run over a span of 13:43 between the first and second periods. The teams traded scores to set the halftime score at 10-2 in favor of the Ospreys.

The second half was more of the same as Stockton continued to pour on the scoring for a 15-4 margin after three periods. Swedlund tallied twice in the third period with Eamon Morley (Glen Rock/Glen Rock) and Kyle Belanger (Kinnelon/Kinnelon) scoring goals for Stockton. It was Belanger's first career goal in his first game of the year for Stockton. Rory Alpaugh (Clinton/North Hunterdon) and Chris Vargo (Kinnelon/Kinnelon) dished assists on the two late goals.

Alpaugh, Jack Utke (Marlton/St. Augustine), Mike Allen (Gibbsboro/Eastern) and Grant Travis (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) finished off the scoring for the Ospreys in the 19-6 final. Utke, Allen and Travis each netted their first career goals.

Swedlund was aided in the scoring column by Ellis with three goals and two assists, while Gallo also tallied two goals and three helpers for five points each. Chris Holleritter (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.) grabbed six ground balls and caused two turnovers on defense. Max Pukenas (Medford/Shawnee) led all players with three caused turnovers.

Justin Ruiz (Holmdel/Holmdel) started in net kicking out 10 shots in 45 minutes of playing time. Steven Pille (Oakland/St. Joseph Regional) and Thomas Sullivan (Morristown/Morristown) split time in the final period in net, with Sullivan making five saves.
