Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-7) pulled away in the second half for a 17-10 victory over Marymount University (10-10) on Saturday afternoon in the ECAC Tournament semifinals. The Ospreys gained a measure of revenge as they dropped a game to the Saints 9-7 on March 27.
Michaella Butrico (South Plainfield/South Plainfield) led the scoring with four goals on the day for Stockton.
The Saints opened the scoring 2:32 into the contest before Stockton answered with four straight markers for a 4-1 lead.
Kristen Russo (Wayne/Wayne Hills) tallied two of the scores. The Saints outscored the Ospreys 5-2 during the next 12 minutes to forge the 6-6 deadlock with 8:09 left in the half.
Stockton scored three times to finish the half, while holding the visitors without a tally. Butrico,
Danielle Graham (Cherry Hill/ CH West) and
Gaby Ojeda (Galloway/Absegami) gave Stockton a three-goal margin at 9-6 at the break.
The squads traded a pair of goals early in the second half, with Stockton holding an 11-8 lead before the Ospreys put the game away with a five-goal outburst in just over 10 minutes for a commanding 16-8 lead with 8:22 remaining in regulation. Freshman
Nicole Jandras (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) scored twice during the run for the Ospreys.
Marymount hit the net twice more before Butrico added the exclamation point with her fourth goal of the day with 1:24 left to set the final score at 17-10.
Jandras added three goals for Stockton while
Tamara Torales (Basking Ridge/Ridge) and Russo netted a pair of tallies each.
Abbey Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) caused two turnovers to lead all players. Torales and
Melanie Patterson (Jackson/Jackson Liberty) led all players with five draw controls each.
Freshman goalkeeper
Stevie Ader (Califon/Voorhees) made five saves in net for the Ospreys.
The Saints were led by Jessica Crew and Kelly Campbell who scored four and three goals respectively. Goalkeeper Holly Reik made seven saves in the net.
The Ospreys will host Marywood in the ECAC championship game tomorrow at 1pm. The Pacers downed Misericordia 17-8 in the other semifinal earlier in the day.
