Stockton Routs Rutgers-Newark 4-1

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (5-1-3, 1-0-1 NJAC) dominated the match from the start and posted a 4-1 win over Rutgers-Newark (4-4-1, 0-2-0 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys used four different goal scorers, including three players tallying their first career goals, to extend their unbeaten streak to eight straight contests.
 
The Ospreys controlled the first half, out shooting the Scarlet Raiders 10-4 with seven shots on net and 20 attempts on the day. Stockton broke through in the 39th minute as Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) scored on a penalty kick to give the home team a 1-0 advantage.
 
Less than three minutes later, Katie Reed (Egg Harbor Twp. /EHT) scored her first career marker for the 2-0 lead and eventual game winner. Dasey DiElmo (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands) gained the end line and flipped a pass toward the front of the Scarlet Raider net. Reed's header found the back of the net for the two-goal margin.
 
Rutgers Newark closed the gap with a goal 2:43 into the second half to halve the margin at 2-1. However, 39 seconds later, Kiersten Reszkowski (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) tallied her first career marker to push the lead back to two goals at 3-1. Michelle Sander (Ewing/Notre Dame) fired a corner kick that found Reszkowski in front for the short corner tally.
 
Stockton ended the scoring when Brenna Clowney (Mullica Hill/Clearview) also nailed her first career marker in the 57th minute. She fired a shot was kicked out, but the rebound found its way back to Clowney and she made no mistake on the opportunity. Her marker made it 4-1 and set the final score.
 
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) saw her scoreless streak in net end at 465 minutes but came away with her fifth win of the season. The senior made three saves in the victory.
 
Heidi Paulson made nine saves in net for the Scarlet Raiders. Teammate Ana Silveira scored the only goal with an assist from Samantha Richter.
 
Stockton will play again on Monday night at home, when the Ospreys will face John Jay College in a non-conference match. Game time is set for 7 pm.
