Towson, MD – Stockton University won three of the six flights at the Goucher Invitational tournament over the weekend. Twin sisters
Brooke Samuels (Salem/Salem) and
Brenna Samuels (Salem/Salem) won the No. 3 and No. 4 singles flights respectively.
Kristen McCormick (Galloway/Absegami) and
Renee Wornowicz (Old Bridge/Old Bridge) teamed to win the No. 3 doubles flight.
Brooke Samuels won 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals then 6-4, 6-0 in the semifinals and 6-0, 6-1 in the finals as she dropped just five games in winning her three matches.
Brenna Samuels marched to the crown in her flight with wins of 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals and 6-0, 6-1 in the finals.
McCormick and Wornowicz started with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in the quarterfinals. The duo then prevailed 6-2, 6-7, 10-1 in the semis before taking the title 6-1, 6-1.
Emily Steinberg (Toms River/TR North) won her quarterfinal match, fell in the semifinals and the won her consolation match to finish 2-1 in the No. 2 singles flight.
Maria Ibarra (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) won two consolation matches to finish 2-1 in the No. 1 singles flight. The pairing of
Sarah Richardson (Atco/Hammonton) and
Hailey Johnson (Middletown/Academy of Law & Public Safety) also won two consolation matches to finish 2-1 in the No. 1 doubles flight.
Katelyn Emick (West Deptford/West Deptford) won the satellite singles bracket for the Ospreys as well.
Stockton returns home to host Stevens in a non-conference match on Wednesday at 3 pm.
