Mahwah, N.J. – Stockton University (9-1, 5-1 NJAC) finished its fall season with an 8-1 victory on the road at Ramapo (5-4, 3-3). The Ospreys recorded their eighth consecutive win and clinched second place in the NJAC with a 5-1 league record.
Brianna McCarthy (West Long Branch/Shore Regional) and
Sarah Richardson (Atco/Hammonton) won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles and Stockton received a forfeit victory at No. 3 doubles for a 2-1 lead entering singles play.
McCarthy and Richardson cruised to 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at No. 3 and No. 5 singles respectively while
Brooke Samuels (Salem/Salem) also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
Elena Nunez (Madrid, Spain/Rye, N.Y.) rallied to win 3-6, 7-5 10-7 in a super-tiebreaker at No. 1 singles.
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) pulled away in the second set for a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles and the Ospreys received another forfeit win at No. 6 singles to complete the 8-1 triumph.
Brenna Samuels (Salem/Salem) finished the fall with on an 11-match winning streak followed by
Katelyn Emick (West Deptford/West Deptford) and Richardson with runs of seven and six straight wins respectively.
Brenna Samuels led the team with 12 singles victories during the fall. Nunez and
Brooke Samuels added 11 wins apiece. The doubles teams of McCarthy/Richardson and Nunez/van Schalkwyk each went 8-2 in doubles play. Stockton will resume action with more matches during the spring semester.
