Stockton First-Half Outburst Downs Ramapo 4-0

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (8-2-2, 2-1-1 NJAC) scored four goals in the first 25 minutes of play, to beat Ramapo (7-1-4, 2-1-1) by a score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon. John Maxted (Middletown/Middletown North) scored two goals to lead the Ospreys.

Christian Bik (Vineland/St. Augustine) started the scoring for Stockton, potting his first goal of the season at 6:51 for a 1-0 lead. Bik scored off a free kick by Ryan Cheslock (Toms River/Toms River North) for the tally. The assist was Cheslock's first career point.

The Ospreys hit the net again in the 15th minute, when Michael Echeverria (Linden/St. Joseph's) scored his third marker of the year for a two-goal margin. The junior tapped in a free kick by Ervin Gjeli (Hasbrouck Hts./Hasbrouck Hts.). The assist gave Gjeli his team-leading fourth helper of the year.

Maxted scored the first of his two goals when he was sent in on a breakaway by Bik. After clearing the Ramapo defense, he deked the goalkeeper and put his shot to the low left side for a 3-0 lead at 20:02. Just over four minutes later, Maxted was sent in again, this time from Larry Abanilla (Union/Union Catholic). His shot to the upper left corner made it 4-0 in favor of Stockton.

From there it was all Stockton defense as they limited the Roadrunners to six shot attempts over the final 70 minutes. Ramapo could not get any of the attempts on net, as the Ospreys came away with the 4-0 victory.

Bik added an assist to go with his first goal of the season, while Echeverria tallied his third score of the year. Maxted's two markers gives him five on the season, tying him with Gjeli for the team lead in that category.

Stockton goalkeeper Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) made just one save in posting his fourth shutout of the season. Joshua Schaeffer kicked out six shots in net for Ramapo.

Stockton will finish up a two-game home stand on Wednesday night, when the Ospreys host St. Joseph's Long Island. Game time is set for 7:30pm.
