Stockton Captures First Win of the Season, 91-64

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-1) picked up their first win of the season with a convincing 91-64 victory over St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn (0-1) on Friday night. Freshman DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Ospreys in the opening game of the 2019 Stockton Tip-off Tournament.
 
Stockton dominated the contest, leading from start to finish as the team put up 48 first-half points on 52.9% shooting (18-34). Campbell and Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) led the Ospreys with 12 and 10 points respectively during the first 20 minutes of play.
 
The home team shot 7-15 (46.7 %) from behind the arc as five different players hit three-pointers in forging the 48-32 halftime margin.
 
The Ospreys never let up as they started the second half on a 14-2 run to stretch the margin to 62-38. Five markers from Steve Ferebee (Galloway/Absegami) and another four points from Tariq Baker (Brooklyn, NY/St. Anthony's) spurred the run. From there, Stockton cruised home with the 91-64 victory as all 17 players saw action for the Ospreys.
 
Campbell pilfered a team-high three steals to go with his 20 points while Flanders added 14 points and Jonathan Azoroh (Ewing/Ewing) tallied a career-high 11 markers.
 
Freshman Jordan Williams (Trenton/Trenton Central) led the Ospreys with seven rebounds. Kadian Dawkins (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) dished five assists as Stockton had 23 assists on their 34 baskets for the game.
 
Stephane Etheart led the Bears with 18 points, and game highs of 11 rebounds and six steals. Dimitri Sirakis added 12 points as the only other Bears player in double figures.
 
Stockton will play against Albright College in the championship game of the Stockton Tip-Off Tournament tomorrow at 3 pm. The Lions downed Cabrini University 83-70 in the second game of the day. The Cavaliers will face St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in the consolation game at 1 pm.
