Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) earned his second NJAC Defensive Player of the Week nod in men's soccer for the week of October 28-November 2. He previously earned the award on September 9 of this season.
Gromitsaris had a spectacular week, allowing just one goal in 212:04 of playing time in net for a 0.42 goals against average. The junior gave up one goal in a 1-0 double-overtime loss to Rutgers Camden on Wednesday, then posted his sixth shutout of the season in a rematch against Rutgers-Camden in the first round of the NJAC Tournament on Saturday.
Gromitsaris made six saves in each game and gave Stockton an opportunity to advance to the NJAC semifinals with a diving save during the penalty kick competition. Sixth-seeded Stockton ultimately prevailed 5-4 over the third-seeded Scarlet Raptors in the shootout, sending the Ospreys to the conference semifinals on Wednesday.
For the season, Gromitsaris is leading the NJAC with an 0.75 goals against average and is tied for first with six shutouts. He has 45 saves and a .776 save percentage in 1,564 minutes played on the season.
Stockton (10-5-4) will visit No. 2 seed Montclair State for an NJAC Tournament semifinal on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
