Galloway, N.J. – Three Stockton University field hockey players received NJAC all-conference recognition for the 2019 season. Junior back
Casey Cordonna (Barrington/Haddon Heights) led the trio with selection to the NJAC First Team.
Senior goaltender
Emily Gilligan (West Deptford/West Deptford) and junior midfielder
Issy Gilhooley (Ocean City/Ocean City) were selected NJAC Honorable Mention. Gilligan received NJAC accolades for the second straight year. She was the NJAC Goaltender of the Year and NJAC First Team last season. Cordonna and Gilhooley earned their first all-conference nods.
Cordonna has contributed both offensively and defensively this year. She ranks third on the team in goals (5) and points (12) while also helping Stockton to six shutouts and a 1.70 goals against average. Cordonna has two game-winning goals, one of which was the lone marker in a 1-0 win over #18 Montclair State that was Stockton's first victory over the Red Hawks since 2005.
Gilligan is tied for the NJAC lead with a school-record six shutouts and also stands third in the league in saves (112) and save percentage (.836) to go with a 13-4 record and a 1.33 goals against average in 17 starts. The senior has been chosen NJAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.
Gilligan became Stockton's all-time leader with 12 career shutouts and is on pace to finish her three seasons at Stockton as the program's leader in goals against average and save percentage. Earlier this fall, she was selected to play in the NFHCA Division III Senior Game, which will be held on November 23 in conjunction with the NCAA Final Four.
Gilhooley leads the Ospreys and stands tied for fifth in the NJAC with eight assists. She also has three goals, the first markers of her career, and a total of 14 points that is second on the team. The junior has contributed one game-winning goal, the OT winner in a 2-1 victory over Ramapo, and made one defensive save for Stockton.
Gilhooley is one of five Ospreys who have started all 18 games this season while Cordonna and Gilligan each have made 17 starts and missed one game apiece. Stockton stands at 14-4, one win off the school record set last year. All four of their losses have come against teams that ranked in the top 10 of this week's NFHCA Division III national poll.
