Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University junior
Casey Cordonna (Barrington/Haddon Heights) was voted to the Longstreth/NFHCA South Atlantic Region Second Team by the
National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Cordonna received all-region recognition for the first time in her career.
Cordonna, a defender, contributed at both ends of the field to help Stockton to a 14-4 record and a berth in the NJAC tournament this season. She became the sixth Osprey in the program's history to be chosen all-region and extended the team's streak to four straight years with at least one all-region selection.
Cordonna started all 17 games in which she played, finishing second on the team with five goals and dishing two assists for 12 points, which was third on the squad. The junior netted two game-winning goals, including the lone marker in a 1-0 victory over #18 Montclair State that was Stockton's first triumph over the Red Hawks since 2005.
With most of her offensive production coming on penalty corners, Cordonna's primary role was as a defender during the course of play. She helped Stockton record six shutouts and a 1.70 goals against average this season. Last month, Cordonna was voted to the NJAC First Team for her outstanding play during the year.
