Results
Staten Island, NY – The Stockton University men's and women's indoor track & field squads produced strong team efforts at the NJAC Championships that resulted in second place for the men and third place for the women. The Osprey men finished second for the second straight year, equaling their best finish ever, and the women were third for the fourth straight time.
A pair of Stockton men won NJAC individual titles as
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) repeated as the conference winner in the pole vault (4.40m) and
Joe D'Amico (Bayville/Central Regional) captured the NJAC crown in the mile (4:16.14).
Holland won on a tiebreaker over teammate
Qudratullah Qadiri (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) at the top height of 4.40 meters. Qadiri also finished fourth in the 60m hurdles (8.68 seconds) while
Donovan Bryan-Frank (Teaneck/Teaneck) was the runner-up in the high jump (1.93m).
Three Ospreys finished third in an event:
James Flasser (South Plainfield/South Plainfield) in the shot put (13.87m),
Keon Grady (Franklinville/Delsea) in the triple jump (13.77m) and
Matthew Carter (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) in the pole vault (4.25m).
D'Amico joined
Matt Cohen (Robbinsville/Robbinsville),
Andrew Fellin (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) and
Christian Mele (Cherry Hill/CH East) for third place in the 4x800 relay (8:09.79).
Tom Strychowski (Lanoka Harbor/Lacey Twp.) finished fourth in the shot put (13.57m) and fifth in the weight throw (14.11m), one spot behind
Darren Wan (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) in fourth place (14.12m).
The Stockton women's team was topped by runner-up finishes from
Jessica McRae (Keyport/Carteret) in the triple jump (11.37m) and
Jy'Asia Bivins (Toms River/TR South) in the long jump (5.46m).
Isabel Barsch (Barnegat/Southern Regional) placed third in the weight throw (13.70m) followed by
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) in fourth place (13.48m).
Emmy LaFevre (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) finished third in the shot put (11.89m) and
Jeanmarie Harvey (River Edge/River Dell) was third in the pole vault (3.05m).
The 4x800 relay team of
Amanda Logie (Scotch Plains/SP-Fanwood),
Jesse DeLello (Warren/Watchung Hills),
Nicole Christensen (Jefferson/Jefferson Twp.) and
Regina Duncan (Frelinghuysen Twp./North Warren) also placed third (10:00.20).
A number of Ospreys added their names to Stockton's list of qualifiers for the Atlantic Region Championships. They were Qadiri in the 60m hurdles, Bivins in the 60m dash, D'Amico in the mile, Grady in the triple jump,
Rachael Leyrer (Dorothy/Buena) in the 60m hurdles and
Hunter Daly (Florence/Florence) in the high jump.
Stockton is scheduled to compete next in the Armory Last Chance Meet at New York Armory on Friday at 3 pm.
