Stockton Scores 17-10 Win Over Plattsburgh State

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-1) won a hard fought 17-10 victory over Plattsburgh State (1-4) on Wednesday afternoon. The Ospreys were led by Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) with seven goals and Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) with three goals and six assists for nine points.
 
The Cardinals started the game with the first goal before Stockton answered with three straight markers. Dante Poli (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South), Swedlund and J.J. McKenna (Barnegat/Barnegat) hit the net for the 3-1 lead. Anderson assisted on two of the tallies.
 
After another Cardinals marker, the Ospreys used three more scores for a 6-2 lead after one period. Eric Ellis (Voorhees/Eastern) scored a goal and assisted on Swedlund's second goal of the day. Anderson added his first of the day for the three-goal margin.
 
Plattsburgh outscored Stockton 4-3 in the second period to slice the score to 9-6 lead for the home team at the break. Eric D'Arminio (Roxbury/Roxbury), Swedlund and Anderson tallied for the Ospreys.
 
Stockton held the visitors at bay, leading 12-8 after three quarters, on the strength of a Swedlund tally, another score by D'Arminio and a marker by Joey Tiernan (Voorhees/Eastern) for the four-goal advantage. Stockton put the exclamation point on the contest with five goals in the final period.
 
Swedlund hit the net three times with McKenna and Anderson potting the other two scores. D'Arminio added three assists in the period to set the final score at 17-10.
 
Colin Wharton (Cinnaminson/Camden Catholic) led the defense with six ground balls and a game-high four caused turnovers. Ryan Bradley (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan), Kevin Matheny (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) and Matt Thermann (Spring Lake Hts./Manasquan) all scooped five ground balls, with Bradley causing three turnovers.
 
Justin Ruiz (Holmdel/Holmdel) kicked out 14 shots in gaining his sixth win of the season.
 
Kevin Murphy scored four goals for the Cardinals, with Kevin Litchauer adding three goals and three assists for six points. Goalkeeper Joe Falco started and made 16 saves in net, before giving way to Jack Hayes. Hayes played the final 9:28 and made two saves.
 
 
Stockton will take to the road for their next match, as the Ospreys will face Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon. Face-off is set for 1pm.
