Galloway, NJ –Stockton University began the 2019 outdoor track & field season by hosting the Stockton Invitational on a windy day at G. Larry James Stadium. The Ospreys won a total of eight events, five men's and three women's.
Christian Mele (Cherry Hill/CH East) won the 1500m (4:10.16) and
Daniel Do (Galloway/Absegami) took the 3000m (9:08.73).
Joe D'Amico (Bayville/Central Regional) won the 800m (2:00.65) and
Hunter Daly (Florence/Florence) was the lone field event winner, capturing the high jump (1.93m).
The quartet of
Josh Rolls (Marmora/Ocean City),
Keon Grady (Franklinville/Delsea),
Cedric Cook (Toms River/TR North) and
Lucas Smith (Galloway/Absegami) won the 4x100 relay (44.53 seconds). Rolls, Grady and Smith are all freshmen.
Nicole Christensen (Jefferson/Jefferson Twp.) led the Stockton women's team with a win in one individual event and one relay. Christensen won the 3000m steeplechase (13:12.02) while
Abby Lodge (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) captured the 400m (1:02.24).
Christensen joined
Jesse DeLello (Warren/Watchung Hills),
Kristy Goff (Brigantine/Holy Spirit) and
Amanda Logie (Scotch Plains/SP-Fanwood) to take the top spot in the 4x800 relay (10:55.33).
In addition to the eight event wins,
Cooper Knorr (Manalapan/Manalapan) finished second behind Do in the 3000m (9:13.10 and
Jessica McRae (Keyport/Carteret) placed second in the triple jump (11.06m).
Stockton will be back in action next Saturday, March 30 at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet.
