The Stockton women's tennis team reached double digits in wins for the first time since the 2014-15 season, finishing with a 10-5 record in 2018-19. Stockton ended both the fall and spring portions of their schedule with a flourish, capturing their last four matches in October and final three contests in March.
Â
Leading the way were two seniors that were named NJAC All-Conference in singles.
Maria Ibarra and
Emily Steinberg finished off their time at Stockton with premium efforts. Ibarra won eight times in singles, giving her 29 career wins, and teamed with Steinberg for another seven victories in doubles, totaling 19 for her career.
Â
Ibarra also was chosen College Player of the Year by the South Jersey Tennis Coaches Association (SJTCA). The senior became the fourth Stockton player in five years to be selected College Player of the Year by the SJTCA.
Â
Steinberg had an outstanding final season, gong 13-4 in singles and teaming with Ibarra for seven victories at No. 1 doubles. The senior tied for second on the team in singles wins and finished with 23 for her career after ending the season on a four-match winning streak.
Â

Â
Junior

Renee Wornowicz for a near-perfect 9-1 record in doubles, including winning the No. 3 doubles flight at the Goucher Invitational.
Â
McCormick finished her career with 15 wins in singles and 20 more victories in doubles. Wornowicz led the Ospreys with 12 doubles wins overall in her first year on the team, followed by McCormick with nine. Wornowicz also went 3-3 in singles play.
