Galloway, NJ – Stockton University hosted the two-day Osprey Open meet at G. Larry James Stadium on April 12-13. The Ospreys won six women's events and two men's events for a total of eight victories on their home turf.
Regina Duncan (Frelinghuysen Twp./North Warren) won the 1500m (4:50.99) and finished second in the 800m (2:24.86). Freshman
Jy'Asia Bivins (Toms River/TR South) won the long jump (5.23m) and placed second in the 200m (26.36 seconds).
Abby Lodge (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) edged Bivins for the win in the 200m (25.86 seconds) and also was third in the 400m (59.10 seconds).
Jessica McRae (Keyport/Carteret) won the triple jump (11.01m) and
Hayley Baydar (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) crossed the finish line first in the 5000m (19:32.82). Freshman
Jessie Klenk (Somerdale/Sterling) earned her first career victory by winning the heptathlon (3,164 points).
On the men's side, teammates
Qudratullah Qadiri (Ocean Twp./Ocean Twp.) and
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) tied for first in the pole vault (4.40m). Qadiri also was second in the 110m hurdles (15.52 seconds).
The 4x800 relay team of
Christian Mele (Cherry Hill/CH East),
Joe D'Amico (Bayville/Central Regional),
Matt Cohen (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) and
Cooper Knorr (Manalapan/Manalapan) earned a victory as well (7:58.39).
In addition to the wins, the Ospreys registered a number of runner-up finishes. Lodge and Bivins joined
Jenna Walker (Barnegat/Barnegat) and
Erica Burdsall (Bridgeton/Cumberland) for second place in the 4x100 relay.
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) finished second in the hammer throw (48.61m) and
Victoria Caiazzo (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) placed second in the javelin (31.44m).
Freshman
Lauren Preston (Wernersville, PA/Conrad Weiser) was second in the pole vault (3.20m) on a tiebreaker.
Nicole Christensen (Jefferson/Jefferson Twp.),
Kristy Goff (Brigantine/Holy Spirit),
Jesse DeLello (Warren/Watchung Hills) and
Amanda Logie (Scotch Plains/SP-Fanwood) joined together for second place in the 4x800 relay (10:23.01).
Donovan Bryan-Frank (Teaneck/Teaneck) and
Hunter Daly (Florence/Florence) tied for second in the high jump (1.82m) while
Daniel Do (Galloway/Absegami) was second in the 1500m (4:04.64).
Stockton will compete in the Widener Invitational next weekend on April 19-20.
