Chester, PA – Stockton University was one of nearly 50 teams and track clubs to compete in the Widener Invitational on Saturday. The Ospreys finished third in three events and one school record was broken on the day. Stockton finished sixth out of 27 women's teams and 15th out of 28 on the men's side.
Jessica McRae (Keyport/Carteret) finished third out of 31 competitors in the triple jump (11.09m) and
Jy'Asia Bivins (Toms River/TR South) was third out of 34 in the long jump (5.17m). The women's 4x100 relay team of Bivins,
Abby Lodge (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone),
Erica Burdsall (Bridgeton/Cumberland) and
Jenna Walker (Barnegat/Barnegat) placed third (49.51 seconds).
Azia Pitt (Winslow Twp./Winslow Twp.) finished a spot behind Bivins for fourth place in the long jump (5.15m) while
Regina Duncan (Frelinghuysen Twp./North Warren) was fifth out of a giant group of 82 runners in the 1500m (4:43.44).
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) finished sixth in the hammer throw (41.35m) and discus (35.50m).
Jessie Klenk (Somerdale/Sterling) placed sixth in the javelin (33.92m) and Lodge was sixth out of 65 in the 100m (12.75 seconds).
The women's 4x400 relay team of Lodge, Duncan, Burdsall and
Cierra Granger (Ocean City/Ocean City) finished sixth (4:05.55) and qualified for the Atlantic Region Championships.
For the Stockton men's team, sophomore
Daniel Do (Galloway/Absegami) broke the eight-year-old school record in the 5000m by running 15:02.75. Do finished seventh out of 25 runners in the event.
Keith Holland (Bayville/Central Regional) was Stockton's top male finisher, placing fourth in the pole vault (4.45m).
Kyle Navalance (Toms River/TR North) finished fifth in the men's 3000m steeplechase (10:00.07).
Matthew Carter (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) was seventh in the pole vault (4.30m) while
Hunter Daly (Florence/Florence) was seventh in the high jump (1.90m).
Tom Strychowski (Lanoka Harbor/Lacey Twp.) placed ninth in the hammer throw (44.66m) and
Spencer Snell (Litchfield, NH/Campbell) was ninth in the javelin (48.19m).
Stockton will have both men and women competing in the Penn Relays next week. On April 25, Bivins (long jump), McRae (triple jump) and the women's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams will compete. On April 26, Holland (pole vault),
Donovan Bryan-Frank (high jump) and the men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams will compete.
