Stockton Splits Two Matches at Muhlenberg

Allentown, Pa. – Stockton University (8-2) split a pair of matches at the Buttermaker Tournament at Muhlenberg College on Saturday. The Ospreys were edged 3-2 by unbeaten Haverford (12-0) but rebounded to sweep Muhlenberg (4-6) 3-0.
 
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Sullivan totaled 77 assists and 24 digs on the day. She began with 46 assists and 20 digs against Haverford.
 
Christie Louer (Clifton/Clifton) topped all players with 11 kills and also added 13 digs against the Fords. Jocelyn Holobetz (Pottstown, Pa./Nativity BVM) spiked 10 kills and Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) scooped a team-high 22 digs.
 
Stockton took the first 27-25 before dropping the next two. The Ospreys dominated the fourth set 25-8 to stay alive but they could not sustain the momentum and dropped the fifth frame 15-11.
 
Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) led the Ospreys over Muhlenberg with 11 kills and four blocks followed by Holobetz with nine kills. Sullivan dished 31 assists and Miller snagged 15 digs.
 
Kohlhoff had three kills and two blocks in a 7-2 run that closed the first set with Stockton winning 25-20. The Ospreys raced out to a 6-1 lead in the second set and cruised to a 25-19 triumph. Stockton fell behind 12-9 in the third stanza before outscoring the Mules 16-4 to end the match at 25-16. Holobetz led the charge with four kills and a block.
 
Stockton will play its home opener and NJAC opener on Tuesday when the Ospreys host Rowan at 7 p.m.
