Newark & Wayne, N.J. – Stockton University (7-1, 3-1) played a pair of NJAC matches on the road and won both by 9-0 scores to extend its winning streak to six. The Ospreys traveled to Rutgers-Newark (1-3) for a morning match and then headed north to William Paterson (0-5) for another shutout in the afternoon.
Against Rutgers-Newark,
Elena Nunez (Madrid, Spain/Rye (N.Y.)) and
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) won 8-1 while
Hailey Johnson (Middletown/Academy of Law & Public Safety) and
Brianna McCarthy (West Long Branch/Shore Regional) prevailed 8-3.
Sarah Richardson (Atco/Hammonton) and
Renee Wornowicz (Old Bridge/Old Bridge) cruised to an 8-0 shutout. In singles, Richardson, van Schalkwyk,
Brooke Samuels (Salem/Salem),
Brenna Samuels (Salem/Salem) and
Katelyn Emick (West Deptford/West Deptford) all won 6-0, 6-0. Nunez added a 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Against William Paterson, Nunez and van Schalkwyk rolled 8-1. McCarthy and Richardson teamed for an 8-2 triumph. Johnson and Wornowicz completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 shutout.
Richardson, van Schalkwyk,
Brooke Samuels and Emick all were 6-0, 6-0 winners in singles. Nunez coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 victory and
Brenna Samuels contributed a 6-0, 6-1 conquest.
Stockton will have a week off before playing in the Goucher Invitational tournament on September 28-29.
