Saratoga Springs, NY – Stockton University (3-1) captured their third consecutive victory with a tight 2-1 win over Oswego State (1-2) on Saturday afternoon at the Skidmore Alumni Classic. Joel Burgos (Eatontown/Monmouth) scored his first career goal to give the Ospreys the victory.
 
The Ospreys fell behind 1-0 just 15 seconds into the game on a strike from 35 yards out that eluded Stockton netminder Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown). That would be the last score given up by the Stockton defense for the game.
 
Just over four minutes later, Ervin Gjeli (Hasbrouck Heights/Hasbrouck Heights) knotted the contest at 1-1 with a penalty kick marker. Gjeli's scored for the second straight game. Burgos' eventual game winner came in the 34th minute when the Lakers had a defensive miscue in front of the net. Burgos took advantage of the misplay and potted his first career goal for the 2-1 lead.
 
The Ospreys' defense made the slim lead stand up the rest of the game, holding the Lakers to six shots during the second half, with Gromitsaris making three saves in the frame.
 
Gromitsaris made four saves overall in winning his third game of the season. Brian Terra kicked out three shots for the Lakers.
 
Stockton will play again tomorrow in the championship game of the Skidmore Alumni Classic at 2 pm.
